Kristi Castellaw, ATC
Ms. Castellaw earned her bachelor’s degree in sports and exercise science/athletic training, with a minor in nutrition, from the University of Northern
Colorado, Greely, CO. She has worked in hospital, academic and clinical practices managing injuries and prevention programs in a wide variety of sports.
Prior to joining OPA, she worked as an ATC for Children’s Hospital Colorado, Aurora, CO. In this role, she provided sports medicine services to Northglenn High School athletes in 18 sports teams. Ms. Castellaw worked alongside sports medicine providers and liaised between team physicians, primary care physicians, physical therapists, coaches and parents to ensure continuity of care for injured athletes.
As Assistant Athletic Trainer for Piedmont College, Demorest, GA, she had primary responsibility for coverage of all baseball (junior varsity and varsity),
women’s soccer and men’s basketball events. She developed strength and conditioning programs, including functional movement screenings for baseball
Ms. Castellaw has extensive experience in evaluating, treating and developing rehabilitation programs for injured athletes. She has participated in community outreach and research programs in sports medicine and excels at educating athletes on nutritional topics, including supplement usage, to optimize their sports performance. As an intern at Knoxville Orthopedic Clinic, Knoxville, TN, Ms. Castellaw shadowed orthopedic physicians to deepen her understanding of the evaluation of orthopedic injuries. She observed numerous surgeries to increase her knowledge of anatomy and the treatment of orthopedic injuries.
